Comedian and presenter Jack Whitehall became emotional as he shared his heartfelt wish for his elderly father to witness the journey of his soon-to-be-born child. The 35-year-old star, appearing on The Diary Of A CEO podcast, revealed that he and his model girlfriend Roxy Horner, 32, are expecting a baby girl.
In a tearful moment during the podcast with host Steven Bartlett, Jack expressed his desire for his father, who is now 83, to be there to meet and spend time with his granddaughter. He spoke about witnessing his father’s loving nature with his niece and wanted him to have a similar relationship with his own child.
“I want him to be around and to know my child and spend time with my kid,” Jack said, his voice choked with emotion. “I’ve seen how amazing he is with my niece. He’s the most loving person ever, and so I want him to have a relationship with my kid.”
Jack’s bond with his father Michael is evident to viewers, especially when they appeared together in the Netflix series Travels With My Father. The comedian also opened up about the significance of his father’s approval in his life, revealing, “I want to do all of these things and have success in my career that I can share with him, and he can see these things and enjoy them. His approval does still mean a hell of a lot to me.”
Roxy is currently six months pregnant with their first child. However, her pregnancy journey has been challenging, as she disclosed her struggle with severe morning sickness, enduring constant vomiting up to the six-month mark.
Despite facing difficulties, Roxy had a support network, including a caring friend who helped her during Jack’s absence for work in America during the initial three months of her pregnancy. Additionally, her mum was by her side until Jack returned for the latter stages of her pregnancy, which she considers “the best bit” when she started to feel better.
Jack and Roxy, who have been together for two years, reside in a five-bedroom house in Notting Hill, where they share their home with their beloved dog Coco.
During an interview with Steph McGovern, Roxy excitedly revealed that they are having a baby girl and are considering names for their daughter. Despite the upcoming birth, Roxy confessed that she feels more excitement than nerves about becoming a mother, as she has always cherished the idea of having a family and is looking forward to this new chapter in their lives.
