“Jet”, the famed star from the popular show Gladiators, whose real name is Diane Youdale, was reportedly engaged to another woman before her recent same-sex marriage. This information contradicts Youdale’s earlier statement, where she indicated she had never had a relationship with a woman.
Lisa Nottingham, Youdale’s ex-fiancée, has provided details of their relationship, which lasted for 18 months. Diane had proposed to Lisa a year into their relationship, which concluded in February 2022. Nottingham expressed surprise upon hearing Youdale’s assertion that her wife, Zoe Gilbert, was the first woman she had ever been in a relationship with.
Lisa stated, “I harbour no jealousy towards Diane. I’m genuinely happy for her. I’ve moved on and am in a new relationship. However, I do find it puzzling as to why she portrayed her relationship with Zoe as her first with a woman.”
The story further reveals that Lisa, a businesswoman from Stockton-on-Tees, first encountered Diane during a walk in the woods. Their relationship, as per Nottingham, “simply didn’t work out in the end”.
Recently, Diane married Zoe Gilbert, 49, a legal teacher whom she encountered during a visit to Tesco.
A close associate of Diane mentioned, “Diane sees her marriage to Zoe as her first serious relationship with a woman, given the commitment they’ve made to each other.”
It is notable that Diane previously had a relationship with fellow Gladiator star, James Crossley, known as Hunter, and was married to television executive George Mayhew for seven years. Regarding her sexuality, Diane has expressed that her orientation evolved naturally over time, and she never needed a formal coming-out moment.
