After dominating front pages for a month, the London trial has come to its conclusion with the breaking news on Wednesday 26th July: Kevin Spacey, the Hollywood star, has been acquitted of all the sexual offences by four male accusers between 2001 and 2013.
As the actor heard the verdicts, he was moved to tears and expressed feeling “humbled” by the outcome of the proceedings. In his address to the media outside Southwark Crown Court, 64 year old Spacey expressed his gratitude to the jury and staff in the courthouse.
Here is Kevin Spacey’s full statement as he briefly addressed the media following the not guilty verdicts:
“I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today.
But I would like to say that I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts, carefully, before they reached their decision.
I also want to thank the staff inside this courthouse, the security, and all those who took care of us every single day, my legal team… for being here every day.”

As Kevin Spacey exited Southwark Crown Court in London, members of the public erupted in cheers and started filming him while he briefly spoke to reporters on the courthouse steps.
After the news broke that the Hollywood star had been acquitted of all charges, a crowd had gathered earlier in the afternoon. Amidst the crowd, one man extended birthday wishes to Spacey, while another loudly declared their affection, saying, “we love you, Kevin,” as the actor got into a taxi to depart.
Many people held their phones aloft, attempting to capture pictures of the actor, and one individual even mentioned “House Of Cards,” the Netflix political drama series that had earned Spacey a Golden Globe. Unfortunately, he was later removed from the show when allegations surfaced against him in the US.
