Michael McIntyre has certainly had his share of ups and downs, not just in his comedic journey but also in his personal life. While the public sees the laughter on stage, the road to marital bliss with wife Kitty Ward had its own hurdles.

In his 2010 book, ‘Life and Laughing,’ Michael McIntyre candidly shares the early challenges in his romance with Kitty. Despite falling head over heels instantly, Kitty wasn’t as smitten. Michael humorously wrote, “In the romantic comedy that was my life, this would have made a good ending. Unfortunately, she wasn’t.” Fortunately, their love story took a turn for the better, and they exchanged vows in 2003.

Family dynamics played a role, with Michael’s grandmother actively trying to break them up. Michael revealed on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, “Unfortunately, my grandma didn’t really like it when I got a girlfriend. It became quite vicious, an untenable situation.” However, love triumphed, and the couple, now happily married, has two sons, Lucas and Oscar.

Her father, Simon Ward, was a celebrated actor known for roles in iconic films like ‘The Three Musketeers’ and ‘Young Winston.’ Following in her father’s footsteps, Kitty’s sister, Sophie Ward, is an actress and writer with notable appearances in films such as ‘Young Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘Jane Eyre.’

While Michael McIntyre has soared to success with a net worth exceeding £75 million in 2020, he hasn’t been immune to life’s challenges. The comedian invested in a lavish eight-bedroom London home worth £10 million, equipped with amenities like a swimming pool, cinema room, and gym. The family of four also has a retreat in Wiltshire, where they can escape the hustle and bustle.

However, in 2018, Michael faced a harrowing incident that shook him and his family. Waiting outside his son’s school in Golders Green, London, he became a victim of a brutal mugging. Masked assailants on mopeds smashed the window of his Range Rover, demanding his £15,000 Rolex watch. Despite the traumatic experience, Michael McIntyre returned to the stage that same week, highlighting his resilience.
