Mrs Browns Boys has a very talented comedy actress joining the new series.

Former ‘Coronation Street‘ actress Debra Stephenson is throwing her hat back in the ring, joining the ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ crew.

It’s been two long years since Debra took to the screen, but the telly favourite is making her much-anticipated comeback. The actress is set to dazzle as Anita, a chum to Cathy Brown, played by Jennifer Gibney. And there’s talk that Anita may be more than just a friend – could she be Cathy’s long-lost half-sister?

As the saying goes, there’s no smoke without fire, and Debra’s addition to the ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ family has certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons. An insider shared to the Daily Star, gushing: “Debra’s just the ticket for ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’. She’s comedy gold. We reckon the viewers are going to be head over heels for her.” The mole also hinted, “There’s a fair chance she’s playing Cathy’s kin.”

Let’s not forget, Debra is no stranger to the limelight. Many will remember her iconic turn as Frankie Baldwin on ‘Corrie’, from 2004 to 2006. She’s been superb in other dramas too, like ‘Bad Girls’, ‘Playing The Field’, and ‘Holby City’.

And for those ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ fans, there’s more good news on the horizon. After keeping us hanging on tenterhooks for years, the show is pulling out all the stops with four fresh episodes – the first since 2013, aside from the festive specials. Fans should keep their eyes peeled, as these episodes will soon grace our screens on BBC One and iPlayer in the coming month.

Brendan O’Carroll, the writer behind the much-loved series, has finally let the cat out of the bag. Chatting to the BBC earlier this year, O’Carroll shared the news about the intended 2021 release of his mini-series. Yet, as fate would have it, the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. First, the Covid-19 pandemic threw a spanner in the works, and then, as luck would have it, a post-Covid studio shortage added insult to injury.

But, as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining. Now, with the hurdles behind him, O’Carroll announced with gusto, “It’s absolutely cracking to finally get the show on the road. Fasten your seatbelts and hold onto your hats!” So, for all the fans out there, the wait will soon be over, and hopefully, the series will be a hit.

As the old saying goes, you can’t keep a good man down. At 67, the indomitable force behind Agnes Brown is gearing up to slip back into those iconic shoes. Not only is he set to wow audiences once again as the titular matriarch, but he’ll also be flanked by some familiar faces. Fans will be over the moon to hear that Jennifer Gibney is set to reprise her role as Cathy Brown, with Paddy Houlihan donning the Dermot Brown mantle again.

But, as they say, this bow has more than one string. The inimitable Eilish O’Carroll will return as Winnie McGoogan, with Dermot O’Neill keeping us in stitches as Grandad. And, last but by no means least, Pat Shields is back in the fold as Mark Brown. As the old adage goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. And in this case, it’s clear – the gang’s all here, ready to take the small screen by storm once more.
