Bolton-born comedian, Peter Kay, caused a stir at a Lancashire chip shop this week as he popped in for a quick supper amidst his UK stand-up tour. The comedian, dressed casually, enjoyed a meal at the Atkinson’s chip shop in Morecambe on Wednesday night, causing quite the frenzy among the staff.
Posting a snapshot of the star on social media, Atkinson’s gushed, “We’ve had a very special and famous visitor come down to visit us recently… This is his SECOND time visiting us in our cafe on Albert Road! We might not have provided garlic bread, but he certainly loved his fish & chips. I’m sure we will see him again soon!”
Peter Kay, currently on his ‘Better Late Than Never Tour’, is no stranger to being spotted in seaside towns. The comedian was seen enjoying a day out at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 2021, with photos shared on Facebook showing him next to the Wallace & Gromit ride, wearing a similar checkered shirt to previous visits. Blackpool Pleasure Beach said, “It was great to have Peter Kay join us yesterday and true to style he wore one of his Blackpool Pleasure Beach shirts! Here’s Peter from 2015, 2016 and 2021!”
The ‘Phoenix Nights’ star’s tour, which marks his return to stand-up after a 12-year hiatus due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’, will feature over 100 shows between 2022 and 2025. The M.E.N review said it was like he had ‘never been away’, praising his ‘brilliant observations on everyday life’. The comedian is set to perform two nights in Sheffield on August 11 and 12.
