Del Boy is set to make a return to our screens this Christmas as part of an Only Fools And Horses special! Legendary actor Sir David Jason, 83, will be front and centre in a new documentary dedicated to the beloved British sitcom Only Fools And Horses.
After undergoing hip surgery earlier this year, this marks one of David’s first television appearances. A TV source exclusively shared with The Sun, “It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Trotters, so this is a great way for viewers to get their Only Fools fix.”
In this festive documentary, set to air on Channel 5, Sir David Jason will take us down memory lane. Nostalgically, he will recall iconic moments from the sitcom first aired in 1981. The special will showcase behind-the-scenes secrets and reveal Sir David’s favourite Christmas episode from the show.
Other Only Fool And Horses Favourites Also Set To Appear
But that’s not all – fans can expect a delightful reunion with other stars from the series. Tessa Peake-Jones, who portrayed Del Boy’s wife Raquel, will also be making an appearance. The TV source added, “Producers were delighted when David was passed fit to appear following his surgery, so the special will be cushty for fans”
Only Fools And Horses, a sitcom that captured the hearts of audiences, became a staple in British television history. Running from 1981 to 2003, the show follows market trader Del Boy and his less streetwise younger brother Rodney Trotter. We follow their hilarious capers as they navigate the highs and lows of life in Peckham.
The Christmas episodes, in particular, hold a special place in fans’ hearts. The forthcoming documentary, titled “The Story Of Only Fools and Horses at Christmas,” will delve into these Yuletide gems. Notably, it will feature the most expensive joke in BBC history from the episode “To Hull And Back.”
Celebrity Fans Of Show Will Also Have Their Say
The excitement doesn’t stop there – the documentary boasts a star-studded lineup of contributors. Alongside Tessa Peake-Jones, fans can look forward to appearances from celebrity fans such as Theo Paphitis from Dragon’s Den and Strictly Come Dancing’s Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
While the prospect of an Only Fools And Horses reboot has been teased in various forms, the Christmas special promises to be a heartfelt reunion. Writer, the late John Sullivan, is still remembered fondly, and the cast and crew feel his absence.
