Fans of “Only Fools and Horses” did a double-take when they saw the latest pictures of the upcoming Frasier reboot, showcasing Nicholas Lyndhurst’s character for the first time.
Nicholas Lyndhurst, known for portraying Rodney Trotter in the iconic BBC comedy, will step into the shoes of Alan in the new series. Alan plays an old buddy of radio psychiatrist Frasier, whom Kelsey Grammer portrays. Recently, Kelsey praised Nicholas, calling him an ‘extraordinary actor and a dear friend.’ He predicted Hollywood would soon recognise his immense talent.
Teaser Clip goes public
Earlier today, excitement grew among viewers as the first teaser clip and images went public. The show’s impending release is on October 12 in the US and October 13 in the UK. However, a snapshot of Frasier and Alan sharing a drink at a Boston bar sparked reactions on social media.
Nish Kumar reacted to the photo, stating, ‘This is like seeing Jennifer Aniston pop up in the Brittas Empire.’ Another user echoed this sentiment, exclaiming, ‘Honestly that picture of Nicholas Lyndhurst from the new Frasier series is blowing my mind.’
Others expressed their anticipation, with one saying, ‘I’m intrigued by this. I’m looking forward to seeing what the story will be and where Frasier is at now. It’s going to be great seeing Nicholas Lyndhurst in it!’ Some even fantasised about a potential “Only Fools” crossover. One fan pitched, ‘Please can Lyndhurst’s role be a reprisal of Rodney. An Only Fools Frasier crossover is the crossover we didn’t know we needed.’
Twitter Users React
Moreover, another Twitter user humorously imagined, ‘Frasier and Rodney complaining about Delboy’s latest scheme in the Nag’s Head.’ Luckily, the wait is almost over. The 10-episode revival will kick off with a double-bill on October 12 on Paramount+. Subsequent episodes will release every Thursday.
A sneak peek of the synopsis mentions, ‘The new series follows Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life. He returns to Boston with new challenges to face and new relationships to forge. There’s also an old dream or two to finally fulfill. Frasier has re-entered the building! Besides Grammer, the show features Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy, Frasier’s son. Nicholas Lyndhurst plays Alan, an old college friend; and several other notable actors.’
On the other hand, while Jane Leeves and David Hyde Pierce won’t return as Daphne and Niles Crane, Peri Gilpin and Bebe Neuwirth have confirmed their comebacks as Roz Doyle and Lilith Sternin, respectively.
The much-anticipated Frasier reboot will debut on October 12 on Paramount+ in the US and the following day in the UK.
