Never Mind the Buzzcocks host Greg Davies has shared amusing anecdotes of his encounters with celebrities, recalling an especially embarrassing incident involving his childhood crush, Blue Peter star Janet Ellis, who is also the mother of singer Sophie Ellis Bextor. Davies admitted to feeling a “terrible crush” on Janet Ellis and ran into her unexpectedly at a chip shop, where he put his foot in his mouth.

“I met Janet Ellis once in a fish and chip shop. I used to have a terrible crush on her, all throughout my childhood,” he confessed, laughing at his own expense. Reflecting on the encounter, Davies revealed, “Then I finally met her and said something humiliating, I think chips based, that guaranteed I would never end up in the relationship I craved.”

Janet Ellis, now 67, gained prominence as a children’s TV personality during the 1970s and 80s, serving as a host on Blue Peter for four years before appearing on various other shows like The Wright Stuff, Just the Two of Us, The Great Garden Challenge, The Weakest Link, and Antiques Road Trip.
