Welsh actor and comedian Rob Brydon has shared that Hollywood star Margot Robbie is a surprising fan of the British comedy series Gavin and Stacey. In fact, her fondness for the show may have played a part in Brydon securing a role in the highly anticipated Barbie film.
A few years ago, Brydon received a message stating that Margot Robbie was a big fan of Uncle Bryn and asked if he could record a birthday message for her. Brydon gladly recorded a video, expressing his admiration for her work. When he eventually met Robbie on the set of Barbie, she thanked him for the message, which Brydon found quite delightful.
Robbie, known for her impressive acting career, developed a soft spot for Brydon’s character, Uncle Bryn, from the beloved TV series set in Barry, South Wales. Her admiration for the character led Brydon to believe that it may have contributed to him landing a small role in the upcoming Barbie movie.
The Barbie film, based on the popular Mattel doll, follows Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken as they venture out of Barbie Land and into the real world. The star-studded cast, including Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, America Ferrera, and Dua Lipa, graced the pink carpet at London’s Leicester Square for the European premiere of the movie on Wednesday.
Robbie and Gosling stole the show, exuding the essence of Barbie and Ken as they posed for photographs on the red carpet. Robbie stunned in a custom Vivienne Westwood floor-length dress, crafted from pale pink satin. The gown, reminiscent of a vintage 1960 Enchanted Evening Barbie doll, featured a corset bodice and a fur-style trim. Completing her Barbie-inspired look, Robbie wore pearl jewelry, white evening gloves, and clear heels, with her long blonde hair elegantly styled in an updo.
In harmony with Robbie’s ensemble, Ryan Gosling sported a light sage-colored suit with a white shirt, exuding a sophisticated charm as he stood beside his co-star on the pink carpet.
The combination of Rob Brydon’s connection with Margot Robbie through their mutual appreciation for Gavin and Stacey, along with the star power of Robbie and Gosling, promises an exciting and enchanting Barbie film experience for audiences.
