Dolly Parton displays her great sense of humour with her response to Kate Middleton’s request.
Country legend Dolly Parton revealed an unexpected reason for declining a tea invitation from Princess Kate Middleton during her recent trip to London. While promoting her latest album, the 77-year-old music royalty received an invitation to join Princess Kate for tea, but she declined. The reason? The princess wasn’t going to promote her new rock album.
The revelation came during Dolly’s interview on BBC Radio 2. The beloved 9-to-5 icon said about her trip, “This time, Lordy, I even got invited to have tea with Kate but I couldn’t even go.” She graciously mentioned, “I thought it was very sweet and nice of her to invite me and one of these days I’m going to get to do that – that would be great.” Yet, Dolly candidly added, “She wasn’t going to promote my rock album so I had to say no.”
Despite her busy schedule and inability to see the city’s attractions, Parton continues to harbour a love for London and its people.
In other exciting news, Parton is venturing into the rock genre for the first time with her upcoming album released this November. The album features a cover of the classic “Let It Be.” This version will have a historic collaboration featuring the last remaining Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Sir Paul, who is 81, recently expressed his excitement about the collaboration on Twitter. He retweeted Parton’s sentiments on singing ‘Let It Be’ with him, adding, “Thanks Dolly for doing my song. I love your version and am very pleased to be by your side on this one. Rock on! Love Paul.”
Fans eagerly await the album, with many praising the “beautiful harmonies” of the Beatles and Parton collaboration. One fan shared their enthusiasm, saying, “Dolly, Paul, Ringo, Mick, Peter – an amazing version of such an iconic song. Thank you for the beautiful version of Let It Be. You brought a big smile to my face. Peace and Love to all!”
