Country legend Dolly Parton revealed an unexpected reason for declining a tea invitation from Princess Kate Middleton during her recent trip to London. The revelation came during Dolly’s interview on BBC Radio 2. The beloved 9-to-5 icon said about her trip, “This time, Lordy, I even got invited to have tea with Kate but I couldn’t even go.” She graciously mentioned, “I thought it was very sweet and nice of her to invite me and one of these days I’m going to get to do that – that would be great.” Yet, Dolly candidly added, “She wasn’t going to promote my rock album so I had to say no.”

Despite her busy schedule and inability to see the city’s attractions, Parton continues to harbour a love for London and its people.

In other exciting news, Parton is venturing into the rock genre for the first time with her upcoming album released this November. The album features a cover of the classic “Let It Be.” This version will have a historic collaboration featuring the last remaining Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
